Children’s Dentistry
We understand how important it is for children to have good experiences at the dentist. We can see children from as soon as they get their first tooth if they are experiencing a problem, however, most parents start bringing their kids in from between 3 and 4 years of age.
This allows them to become familiar with the surroundings and the process. If they need any treatment by the time they are 5 or 6, they will have had several positive visits and can often be treated with minimal intervention and without the need for local anaesthetic. Our Oral Health Therapists (OHTs) focus their extensive training on preventive dentistry and children’s dentistry to ensure happy and healthy smiles. OHTs love to work with kids and parents to help build a custom oral hygiene routine that suits your child and their routine.
They also have a specific focus on preventing decay, rather than just treating decay as it presents – we find most circumstances of decay are completely preventable!
Our OHTs have tailored skills to make dentistry kid friendly and love to promote a positive dental experience. We aim to remove the ‘white coat’ approach of dentistry and promote a fun and educational experience for your kids. Our OHTs will take the time to explain things to your kids so they also have an understanding of their teeth and overall oral health so nobody is left with any questions about their teeth.
Our OHTs aren’t just fantastic in the clinic, they also love to give Oral Health presentations at local preschools to spread the word of good oral health in the community. It is very sad that Dental Decay is the number one reason that children get General Anaesthetics. Mostly, it is completely preventable! We will help reinforce good oral hygiene habits and a balanced diet to help keep your child smiling.
