About Anna-Liisa Matikainen

Anna-Liisa is dual qualified as both a Dental Therapist and a Dental Hygienist, and plays an important role in delivering preventive and restorative care within the Tidy Tooth team. She is especially passionate about patient education, giving people the knowledge and tools they need to maintain healthy smiles and prevent dental problems before they arise.

Originally from the Riverina region of Wagga Wagga, Anna-Liisa began her dental career in Sydney in 2007 as a dental assistant. It was during this time that she developed a strong passion for dentistry and decided to further her education, returning to Wagga Wagga to complete a Bachelor of Oral Health at Charles Sturt University, graduating in 2017.

In 2022 she completed her postgraduate Advanced Scope training, allowing her to perform more complex restorative procedures. Her commitment to continued professional development reflects the practice’s philosophy of constantly advancing skills and knowledge to deliver the highest standard of care.

Outside the clinic

Anna-Liisa enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, taking their dogs to the beach, camping (often with their sauna tent) and heading to the snow. A favourite weekend tradition is a pancake breakfast followed by a long run around Mossy Point and Broulee.
