About Dr Michael Cooper

Michael is an experienced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with more than three decades of specialist practice. He consults with patients from Canberra and the NSW South Coast, including those seeking specialist oral and maxillofacial care in the Eurobodalla region.

Born and educated in Zimbabwe, Michael completed two years of National Service as a pilot in the Rhodesian Air Force before moving to South Africa, where he earned a Bachelor of Science. After relocating to Sydney with his family in 1981, he went on to complete undergraduate degrees in both Dentistry and Medicine, giving him the dual medical and dental training required for specialist practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

He completed his specialist training and qualified as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 1995 after successfully completing his Fellowship examinations, and has practised as a specialist in Canberra ever since, bringing extensive experience to the assessment and surgical management of complex oral, dental, jaw and facial conditions. Alongside his private specialist practice, Michael has continued his involvement with the Australian Defence Force and currently holds the rank of Squadron Leader in the Specialist Reserve.

Outside the clinic

Michael enjoys spending time with his two sons and maintains an active lifestyle through flying, golf, cycling, running and Tae Kwon Do.
