Dr Steve Tangney is principal dentist and co-owner of Tidy Tooth Dental, and leads the practice in digital dentistry. Trained in aesthetic dentistry in London and a graduate of the Masters of CEREC program, he designs and makes crowns, veneers and bridges on-site — often fitted in a single visit, which means fewer appointments and less time off work. A Smile Design Consultation includes clinical photographs, digital scans, X-rays where clinically indicated, an examination by Dr Steve Tangney, a written treatment plan with a cost estimate, and a discussion of payment options. It does not include any dental treatment. All treatment is quoted separately in writing, depends on individual clinical assessment and requires your informed consent.

A smile makeover, also known as Smile Design, is a personalised approach to improving the appearance, function and health of your smile.
Rather than focusing on a single procedure, Dr Steve Tangney considers your teeth, bite, facial features and individual goals to develop a treatment plan suited to you.
Depending on your needs, treatment may involve dental crowns, veneers, clear aligners, teeth whitening, dental implants or a combination of treatments.

What happens at a Smile Design Consultation?
It's a single visit to our Broulee clinic. Our clinical coordinator takes clinical photographs, digital scans and, where clinically indicated, X-rays. Dr Steve Tangney then examines your teeth, gums and bite, talks through what you'd like to change, and explains which options are realistic for your mouth.
You'll receive a written treatment plan and cost estimate, and our treatment coordinator walks you through payment options. There's no obligation to go ahead — the consultation is about giving you clear information to decide in your own time.
How much does a smile makeover cost?
It varies a lot, because "smile makeover" covers everything from whitening and a couple of veneers to full-mouth rehabilitation. Treatment can range from a few thousand dollars to $40,000–$50,000 for the most complex cases.
That's exactly why the consultation comes first: you'll receive a personalised written quote for your plan before anything begins, with no surprises. Payment plans are available, and we claim on the spot with HICAPS where your health fund covers part of the treatment.
How many visits will I need?
Fewer than you might expect. Dr Steve designs and makes ceramic crowns, veneers and bridges on-site with CEREC technology, so many restorations are fitted in a single visit with no temporaries and no waiting on a lab.
How many appointments your plan needs depends on what's involved — whitening, aligners and implants each have their own timelines. Dr Steve maps this out in your written plan, and if you're travelling a long way to see us, we do our best to group appointments together.
